Hi Ben – First, I love your tutorials. I’m a 70+ year old guy and new to Blender, but trying to keep my mind young! Your tutorials are very straight forward and concise, easy to understand, and have increased my learning curve immensely!

I’ve completed Tutorial #2 of the Christmas tree, and would like to export it as a Direct X model – that’s where the problem comes in! I can’t seem to properly export anything in Direct X format! I know about the add-on, and it’s now an option when I select Export; however, the result if a file named “christmas tree.x”, but it’s only 1 kb, and I can’t import/open it in the program I subsequently use (Bluff Titler) for animating models.

I don’t know if there’s additional steps in exporting that I’m completely unaware of or what! I’m simply in the dark and becoming desperate to determine if this can be done, or if I should move on? I was hoping, with your expertise, you could find time to give me any assistance?

  Hi, Mark! I apologize for the incredibly late delay (my site was, for some reason, set up so that I had to approve comments before they could be posted, so I didn’t see it until today). I’m afraid I’ve never been very knowledgeable when it comes to importing/exporting files. I’ve exported to .obj and .3ds before, but that’s just about it. Do you already have an account on blenderartists.org? If not, I’d suggest you create one there, and post a new topic in the support forums; you’ll probably get a great answer within a few hours of posting it
